Sweet Dreams + Hormone Friendly Protein Hot Chocolate

Most benefit from enjoying a bedtime snack, as it has significant positive impacts on sleep, blood sugar balance, and cortisol management. While the caffeine in chocolate can keep some up (if you are sensitive!), this hormone friendly hot chocolate will be an amazing option for those who can tolerate a very, very small amount of caffeine later in the day or before bed. Of course, you can enjoy the recipe at other times, but my favorite way to enjoy this delicious hot chocolate is before bed. Read below to find out how to make it + learn about the additions that I love to add.

Ingredients:

- 1 date

- 20 grams of collagen

- 6 oz. unsweetened coconut milk or regular milk

- 1/4 cup organic unsweetened dark or milk chocolate (dark tastes the best, but grab milk chocolate if that is your favorite!)

optional spices: cinnamon, ginger, orange peel (I love adding 1/4 tsp. of this into my hot chocolate), star anise, organic vanilla extract

Instructions:

Blend milk of choice, date and collagen in blender or with hand held immersion blender. If you do not have a blender, use liquid date syrup, maple syrup or honey. Once mixture is smooth, add into sauce pan, add chocolate, stir over medium until melted, and add spices. Allow to cool, and enjoy!
