Adrenal Cocktail Combos

The afternoon adrenal cocktail is an excellent addition to a busy day. The backstory behind the adrenal cocktail is that the vitamins and minerals in this beneficial drink aim to support the adrenal glands, which will support the metabolism as a whole. (PS - the adrenal glands and the thyroid are connected, so this drink is also great for your thyroid!)

You might already be familiar with the adrenal cocktail, but I want to introduce you to a few different options. First, here is the original adrenal cocktail recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz. organic orange juice (for vitamin C)

  • 10 grams of collagen peptides (for amino acids)

  • 1/2 tsp - 1 tsp cream of tartar (for crucial potassium)

  • a pinch of sea salt (for sodium, of course)

Mix all of those ingredients together (you can even blend with ice!) and enjoy. This adrenal cocktail is best if enjoyed with food, or after a snack or meal.

Now, let's talk about swaps!

If you have a sensitive stomach, you might want to swap the orange juice with mango juice.

If you have histamine issues (allergies, etc.), you might want to skip the OJ and go straight for some grape juice - which is excellent for aiding in the breakdown of histamine.

If you're dealing with bloat and gastrointestinal issues, then you can try kiwi juice - that is, if you can find it. Kiwi is low in FODMAPS, which can contribute to bloat and discomfort in many suffering from bacterial overgrowth.

Now, let's review the additions. What can you add to your adrenal cocktail to make it even better?

  • cream of coconut

  • raw cream

  • coconut water

Having an adrenal cocktail mid-day truly is a great addition. Try it out and see if it makes you feel more energized, less stressed, and more equipped to face the day.
