Solutions for Springtime Allergies

Solutions for Springtime Allergies

For many, springtime can be synonymous with allergies. While many seem to be unaffected by the pollen, dust, and mold in the environment, many people often have difficulty with allergies as winter turns to spring.

Xylitol Nasal Spray

Many times, those who are prone to allergies are also prone to sinus issues. Using the antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory compound known as "xylitol," the nose will stay moisturized and free of allergens that can irritate the nasal passages. I suggest using xylitol with caution and starting with half of a spray in each nostril, as anyone who has had mold exposure can experience a slight die-off reaction to using xylitol. I like to use a few sprays (I worked up to this amount over time) if I ever wake up with sinus pressure.

Brand recommendation: Xlear

Castor Oil Packs

Castor oil packs help support the liver, which plays a considerable role in allergy prevention. As soon a springtime begins to roll around, it's a great idea to try using castor oil packs 3x weekly, so you can start having consistent liver support. Doing this at nighttime is easiest for most - and viewing it as a time to relax and unwind is a great idea.

Beef Kidney Glandular

I often suggest beef kidney for histamine issues (like hives, histamine-driven migraines), but I also recommend histamine for springtime allergies. Years ago, I had to take Zyrtec nightly to combat seasonal allergies, but now, a small amount of beef kidney keeps my histamine issues at bay. I have found that many people benefit from using beef kidney often (daily, twice a day) for a period of time, and then, they benefit from using it here and there when any allergies pop up. For all glandular support, I suggest Ancestral Supplements.

Nettle

Nettle, also known as "stinging nettle," is excellent for providing relief from allergies. It is a natural antihistamine, meaning that it helps with histamine responses to allergens. Nettle has been researched extensively and has even been shown in trials to be effective against seasonal allergies.

Brand recommendation: Herb Pharm and Traditional Medicinals

Additional recommendations for allergy relief:

Chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, and a quality air filter like the Air Doctor Pro are my other favorite additions for allergy season support. If I had to make one suggestion, I suggest starting with the Air Doctor to filter the air, especially in your bedroom.

If you are experiencing eye allergies, I suggest trying Similasan homeopathic eye drops for allergies.
