Gut Soothing Herbal Infusion Elixir

Instead of reaching for a second (or third) cup of coffee mid-afternoon, try this nourishing infusion that is focused on supporting the adrenal glands.

Ingredients:

- 1/4 cup marshmallow root

- 1/4 cup slippery elm

- 1/4 cup fennel

- 1/4 cup peppermint leaves

For all herbs, aim to buy organic and in bulk. Mountain Rose Herbs is the brand I suggest, but Frontier CoOp also has a great selection.

How to Make It:

- Boil 6 cups of purified water

- Place herbs in a glass French press (my favorite way to make herbal infusions) and pour boiling water over herbs. You should have one cup total of herbs in the French press.

- Steep for 20 minutes, and serve. And remaining infusion can be saved for later and heated up in a saucepan.

For an extra dash of healing, add in 1/8 cup licorice root to your tea. Not everyone is a fan of the flavor, but it is very healing.

Aim to drink this tea throughout the day, especially if you do struggle with gut health. All of these herbs have incredible benefits for the mucosal lining of the stomach (gastric mucosa) and of the small intestine.
